Matthew Ibbotson was born in Essex and studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Matthew now trains with Wynne Evans, one of the UK’s leading tenors, and a regular with most of the major opera houses and orchestras. Previous tutors include Tim Rhys-Evans, Alison Pryce-Jones, Jane Samuel and Jeffrey Howard.

Last year, Matthew made his professional Musical-Theatre debut as MC Clearlake in Milton Morrissey’s production of ‘Buddy: The Buddy Holly tour’. This Channel Island tour played to vast audiences and Matthew hugely enjoyed this new challenge.

Matthew has a great love for all styles of singing and enjoys new challenges. Matthew particularly enjoyed his recent appearance at the World Travel Awards in Mayfair singing Bohemian Rhapsody with Alan Derby (Lead Guitarist at the Dominion Theatre’s “We Will Rock You”).

Matthew has had a very exciting year, taking on new challanges and looking forward to the new adventure of living in China for 6 months.

In the summer of 2008, Matthew enjoyed performing, as member of Only Men Aloud!, to a live audience of over 40,000 people, packed into the Mall for the transfer of the Bejing Olympics to London.

Matthew is a featured soloist in Neil Rutherford’s performance preparation DVD: “Audition! Audition! Audition!”

Future plans are to work closely with, American born director, Vince Tycer to produce a new opera to be performed late 2011.
