Matthew has studied with prominent professionals, including Wynne Evans (ENO, WNO) Jeffrey Howard (arranger in residence for Only Men Aloud!), Tim Rhys-Evans (musical director of Only Men Aloud!).
He has a strong tenor voice, complemented by a good acting ability.
Matthew has experience of Music Theatre, Television, Corporate Entertainment, Choral, Ensemble, Opera, Recital and Session singing (Credits).
Matthew Ibbotson, BMus (hons.), graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (Vocal Studies) in July 2008.
He was a member of the winning choir in BBC1’s Last Choir Standing, Only Men Aloud! and a proud member of BBC National Chorus of Wales and Serendipity.
Matthew has an excellent duetting rapport with London based Soprano, Amy Whittle. Most recently performing at the Edinburgh Fringe event, BAROCKESTRA!
Matthew regularly performs and solos with London Male Voice Group ESCHOIR at high profile venues, such as the O2 Arena, Stamford Bridge and The Millennium Stadium.
During his time with Serendipity, Matthew had the great honour of singing at Dennis O’Neil’s 60th Birthday Concert at the Wales Millennium Centre, with a special guest appearance by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.
Matthew has sung in a variety of concerts with a wide range of artists, including: Shân Cothi, Connie Fisher, Bryn Terfel, Cerys Mathews, Katherine Jenkins and Juan Diego Flórez.
